About Carolyn Matthiasson
Preparing for birth can be a challenging experience. I am a Certified Prenatal and
Postpartum Exercise Instructor. Medical research supports
the idea that having a fit body will help you shorten your labor
and delivery. In addition to learning prenatal exercise, I
can teach you exercises which you can use to help your baby
achieve and remain in the optimal birth position. After
your baby is born, I will assist you to regain your figure and
strength.
I have frequently worked with couples who are trained in the
Bradley method of childbirth and in Hypnobirthing. I am
knowledgeable in using accupressure, massage, relaxation and the
use of the birth ball. I take a team approach to labor and
enjoy working with fathers and other family members to assist
them to help you in every way they can to show their love and
support.
After your baby is born, I look forward to working with you as a
Postpartum Doula. I am the Mother of two children and the
Nana to seven Grandchildren. Helping you learn “baby
skills” and successful breastfeeding is very rewarding to me.
In addition to showing you various techniques to make baby care
easier, I will help you with daily tasks so that you can spend
the time you need to get acquainted with your baby. I can
stay overnight with your baby to allow you to get needed sleep
if that becomes necessary. I am also trained in First Aid
and Infant CPR.
As of December 2011, I have attended 70 births in Tucson Hospitals and at the Birth Center. I have been privlideged to be a part of many wonderful experiences with the advent of these beautiful babies.
I am a member of Heartsounds: Mother and Infant care.
As a group, we work with new mothers and fathers to smooth the
transition to parenthood. We especially assist
women who are experiencing postpartum depression. Our goal
is a healthy, happy family.
